The Alert Card for Trauma is a resource, created by Survivors, to support people in their day to day lives when dealing with a variety of situations.
The fold-out card was designed to be quick and easy to hand to someone (such as a psychotherapist or doctor), if a person needs help but can’t talk or articulate what they need.
The card has space to write a person’s information in relation to difficulties, triggers things to do, what not to do to and how a person may present when triggered.

Carrying an Alert Card for Trauma has numerous benefits:

Supporting someone who has experienced trauma can be challenging but crucial for their well-being. Every individual's experience with trauma is unique, so it's important to approach each situation with sensitivity and compassion.
Survivors Unite provides free training with an instructions laminate and guidance notes, for organisations that would like to distribute the card. Please get in touch with support@survivorsunite.org.uk to arrange.

Becoming an Alert Card for Trauma friendly organisation means stepping into a role that prioritises awareness, responsibility, and proactive care. It involves developing a strong understanding of how trauma can affect individuals and communities, while learning to recognise early warning signs and respond appropriately.

Once you have met some criteria, we'll provide you with a tailored poster to ensure people within your organisation know where to acquire the card.
As a trained provider, you are not expected to diagnose or treat trauma, but rather to act as an informed presence, an organisation who can support others, promote safe environments, and help connect people to the right resources when needed.
This role contributes to a culture where sensitivity, respect, and timely action are at the forefront.
